Belfast, Northern Ireland; the outstanding venue for the 2013 World Police and Fire Games.
The Games in Belfast, commonly referred to as the 'Olympics' for serving and retired police, fire, prison and border security officers; is the the third largest international multi-sport event in the world, after only the Olympic & Paralympic Games.
There will be 56 sports held at 41 venues across Northern Ireland, and there is an expected 7,000 competitors from over 60 countries taking part.
Over three thousand excited volunteers packed in to the superb King's Hall venue for Orientation Training this afternoon for a great day's 'craic'.
Special guests included entertainer David Meade, star of 'Give my Head Peace', Tim McGarry, and Olympic Gold Medalist Dame Mary Peters. 'Emergency Eddie' also made a star appearance!
The three-thousand strong crowd were eagerly awaiting the first glimpse of the 'Team 2013' uniform, and the WPFG organisers, along with Coca Cola and Kukri did not disappoint.
To the tune of 'I'm too sexy for my shirt', six volunteers modeled the excellent 'Team 2013' uniform. and it was safe to say that the crowd absolutely loved it!
In the midst of the madness at the King's Hall, I was able to snatch a photo with Dame Mary and Tim
McGarry! Oh, yeah, I also kinda 'borrowed' a foam finger. :)
On behalf of the 3,600 people who will be volunteering at the Games - I would like to express my excitement for August!
I have no doubt that every single person had a great day in Belfast today!
It is incredible that Northern Ireland is able to host an event of such magnitude - and it will do absolute wonders for 'Our Wee Country'!
In a country so previously divided, it was excellent to see people from all backgrounds at the event today!
I look forward to meeting fellow volunteers at more training sessions, and I can't wait to meet you all!
